ACRYLIC IMPACT MODIFIER USED IN PVC

Acrylic impact modifier (AlM) is one kind of copolymer with the structure of core-shell. It is prepared by seed emulsion polymerization, including traditional emulsion polymerization and core-shell emulsion polymerization.

Its core is a kind of low crosslinked acrylate polymer, which can effectively transform the external impact energy into heat. And the shell is a methyl methacrylate graft copolymer, it has the good compatibility with PVC matrix. Therefore, the acrylic impact modifier with this structure can improve the impact resistance of PVC products.

In addition the particles of acrylic impact modifier are easy to separate, can be more evenly dispersed into the PVC matrix and can interact with the PVC matrix. So acrylic impact modifier can also promote the gelation and plasticization of PVC matrix.

Acrylic impact modifier also has the excellent weather-resistance and color durability due to not containing any chemical double bond.

Compared with other impact modifiers used in PVC products, acrylic impact modifier has high impact resistance and excellent weather-resistance. Now acrylic impact modifier is widely used in outdoor applications, such as PVC profile, boards, PVC pipe, PVC fence and so on.
